Andrej Rakar obtained a PhD in electrical engineering at Jožef Stefan Institute where he worked in the field of supervisory systems for technical processes and introduction of information technology in production. In the field of information security he is active since 2005. As head of IT security at Slovenian Institute of Quality and Metrology (SIQ) he is involved in performing internal and external security assessments and information system security design. He is also a renowned lecturer in the field of information and cyber security.
At the seminar Mr. Rakar will talk about cyber security and safety risks associated with communication between public networks and appliances. Today we are living in a hyper-connected world. This openness of computing is creating incredible new opportunities for collaboration, communication and innovation; but it’s also creating new advanced threats that cyber criminals are able to exploit. The presentation will give an overview of cyber security risks associated with internet connected systems and appliances with a real-life example. Finally, measures taken to develop secure devices according to IEC 62443 standard requirements will be summarized.
